Faux Pasta: A Sister Cooking Blog

The prettiest thing we made all last weekend was a peanut sauce soba salad with seared chicken thighs, sugar snap peas, carrots, and coconut-oil scrambled tofu.

I just tried to recreate it now in New York, adding baby pale yellow beans that I brought home from the farmer’s market on my bicycle this morning, but didn’t taste nearly as good as when Nel and I made this together in San Francisco.

“Aww,” you’re thinking. “It’s because your sister’s love (THE SECRET INGREDIENT!!!!!) is missing.” Naw. it’s because those aforementioned farmer’s market beans are just disgusting, kind of sweet and really rubbery after blanching, just awful in texture and flavor and all around last in my private 2012 Annual Legumes Show.
